Statement
The fluidity with which Alejandro Manzano Tomás (b. 1997, Madrid) navigates various artistic disciplines is reminiscent of jazz, echoing themes such as attachment, loss, or desire. His work emerges from navigating a sea of memories, a collection of fragments that craft dreams or fictions, drawing for us those possible paths that never came to be and will never be traveled.
In that music, a lyric resonates: poetry, which holds great significance in Alejandro's work. The composition of his verses is, like all his artistic production, a seed that germinates and grows, discreet and ambiguous, until it reaches a certain form. For Manzano, nothing has a fixed meaning; everything is variable and open. This inherent mutability provokes a longing for certainty, and it is in this desire for certainties that his work takes shape and comes to life.
